STEAKHOUSE ONION RINGS
Applebee's Copycat Recipe
1 cup McCormick Golden Dipt Tempura batter mix
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup beer
1 extra large white onion, sliced 1 inch thick
6 cups vegetable oil in your deep fryer
Preheat the deep fryer to 375 degrees.
Make the batter: Combine the termpura mix with the spices and liquid in a small bowl make the batter. Stir until smooth.
Prepare the onion: Slice the onion and separate all of the rings. Dip the individual rings onto the batter.
Cook the onion: Drop the battered rings into the preheated oil. Deep fry for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Remove to a a paper towel lined plate, salt lightly and serve hot.
If you want a bit more spice to your onion rings add some cayenne pepper to the batter and mix some hot pepper sauce into your ketchup to give your sauce some kick.
